Hammerfest: A City of Fire and Light

Perhaps you are wondering why this is called the “Old Road” in Hammerfest. You may want to see the town from the top of a mountain and enjoy Hammerfest's nature with impressive sights and Hammerfest's only forest. You will find answers to all your questions on this tour.

First, we will meet up in town and walk to the beginning of Gammelveien. We will follow the trail and pass old remains from World War II and as well as from the Napoleonic War. During this hike, you will have an amazing view of Hammerfest and its surrounding islands. Later, we will pass the only forest that Hammerfest has and end this round trail at a viewpoint over the town. At the viewpoint, you will also be able to see an old, traditional building by the Sami people, and you can learn something about this important part of Norway. The tour will finish in town after we walk down the famous Zig-Zag road.
