Did you know that Europe’s longest dog sledding race is held in Finnmark, Norway? Let the dogs show you why! Experience the passionate interaction between man and animal out in nature, and the magical winter lights this far north.
Learn dog sledding and handling sled dogs, sleep in a tent in the arctic wilderness, or by the dogs in the dog yard. We will give all necessary training.
The tour starts from our kennel In Børselv, Porsanger. The first evening, we will go for a sled ride in the area nearby to get a taste of dog sledding, getting to know the equipment and the dogs you will have on your team.
The next day we will meet up in the kennel, feed the dogs their breakfast, double check everything is packed, before we are ready to go out and about. You will have your own team of dogs to drive and take care of. If you have experience handling your own dog team, this should not be a problem. If you do not have any experience, it is possible for 2 and 2 guests to share a team of dog’s tandem.
Our main goal is to start out north to get the very best view and experience the arctic climate. After two and a half day out, we go back to the kennel in the afternoon, unpack, and have one last dinner together.
This experience is for the dog lovers, the nature lovers, the active, the curious and the explorer, the experienced and the newbie. All you need to bring (in addition to the items on the packing list), is an open mind and good mood. And maybe a friend?
