Havøysund is a small village with about 1100 inhabitants in the far north of Norway. They have a hotel and several dining places. In addition they have hairdressers, a gym, clothing stores, a gas station and a colonial store with everything you need. They also have a museum and local church.

It is located on an island off the coast of Western Finnmark, and is connected to a national tourist road with fantastic coastal nature. In the area, there are several hiking trails that take you through untouched nature.

Havøysund is also home to Havøygavlen wind farm, which was built in 2002. This is the world's northernmost wind farm with 16 wind turbines.

In the immediate area are the islands Rolvsøya, Ingøya, Hjelmsøya and Måsøya.

It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to drive from Hammerfest, Honningsvåg, Lakselv and Alta to Havøysund.

By plane
The nearest airport is Lakselv Airport - it takes approx. 2.5 hours by car from the airport to Havøysund.
Hammerfest, Alta and Honningsvåg airport are the other nearest airports and it takes about 2.5 to 3 hours by car.

By boat
Hurtigbåt - Måsøy Xpressen: Havøysund – Rolvsøya – Ingøy – Akkarfjord/Sørøya - Hammerfest, retur.
Båtruten går fra Havøysund kai gjennom Gunnarnes kai på Rolvsøya, Ingøy kai på Ingøy, Akkarfjord kombibåtkai på Sørøya og til Hammerfest havn. Hele turen tar ca. 3 timer. Billetter kjøpes om bord.

Hurtigruten docks in Havøysund. Here is the point where two Hurtigruten meet and dock just after each other. The times for the Hurtigruten can vary and must be checked on Hurtigruten's website. It takes approx. 3 hours to Hammerfest and Honningsvåg with Hurtigruten.

Havøysund church
Havøysund Church was built in 1960. The former church was burnt down during World War II. It is a aisleless church with 300 seats and a burial ground. Services, funerals, weddings, baptisms and confirmations are held here.

Måsøy Museummasoymuseum


Måsøy Museum deals with fishing and coastal culture, and is located in an old rectory. Here you will find a varied exhibition on war history, Sea Sami history, marine life and bird life, as well as the history of the area. They also have an exhibition of boats, fishing gear and ship technology through the ages, and Norway's first winch.
