The trail up the mountain Storfjellet starts in Hammerfest's district Prærien, just behind the airport. That destination can already be seen from a distance, because the top is marked by a high transmission tower. This summit offers an impressive view over the city and the neighbouring island of Sørøya.
The walk takes about 2.5 hours from Prærien (back and forth), about 4 hours from the city centre. The trail is also suitable for inexperienced hikers.
